Can you afford that?

You know how you act when you walk into a really fancy store? Where everything is just super expensive and you know good and well that you have eight euros in your account and roughly five in your purse, so you're really careful not to touch anything. Tip toeing around. That has been me lately.

Whenever I watch something crazy like Basketball wives or the real housewives or just talk about something really stupid, there comes this feeling upon me of wasting time. And I immediately ask myself, can I afford this? The answer is no. We can't afford to waste our time with guys, we know aren't going to be our husbands. With shows that are not going to bring us closer to God or with people that are not going to remind us of the important things in life.

I feel like a lot of us are making pretty risky investments. Overspending. Spending time and energy on things you actually can't afford. To come to Christ is free, but everything of the world comes with a price.

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labour on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.
-Isiah 55:1-2

God has paid for us with a very high price, which is the blood of Jesus. There is no currency that can compare to the precious blood of Jesus, but the least we can do is give Him our hearts, lives and our time. We cannot repay God for His sacrifice. We have received something we couldn't pay for ourselves. So let us give our lives to God, who paid our debts rather than overspending on what the world has to offer.

Everything we need is paid for. Forgiveness, peace, redemption has been paid for with the blood of Jesus. But there are some things that payment just doesn't cover. It's not included in the package. Meaning we can't afford it. If it doesn't go with the currency of heaven, I can't have it. I can't waste time with things that are not getting me closer to God, I can't be overwhelmed all the time, I can't engage in worldly stuff like this because it doesn't go with my budget. We just can't afford it!

God paid a high price for you, so don't be enslaved by the world.
-1 Corinthians 7:23
