Mediator...Instigator

I recently read the story when God revealed Himself to the Israelites at Mount Sinai in Exodus 19.
It amazed me how the presence of God came so mightily that the people were even afraid to go up to the mountain because they couldn’t contain the presence of God. So God just continued to communicate to the people through Moses. And there I've noticed a pattern in the Bible. God always uses a mediator. That one person He finds worthy to speak to, so that they may speak to humanity.

At one point Noah had to serve as a Mediator so that God could wash all creation from sin and shame. After Noah, Abraham and His family were chosen to bring God's blessings back to His people. Then came Moses, God used prophets to warn us about the things to come, the disciples and the list goes on and on.

And then came Jesus. The true and prophesied Messiah. The word that became flesh. Our hope and peace. Our King Christ. He is the one and only mediator after Him comes no other. He has reconciled God and humanity for eternity by paying with His precious life.

For, there is one God and one Mediator
who can reconcile God and humanity,
the man Christ Jesus
.- 1. Timoty 2:5

I love that Jesus entrusted us as the body of Christ to become like mediators on earth too as we imitate Him. But the line between a mediator and an instigator is a pretty fine line and I believe especially some girls act like mediators when they are actually being instigators. So here's where it gets tricky at least for me because when I was getting ready to write this post, God (once again) checked me on how I am quite the instigator myself at times.

This is the kind of person I am. If you tell me someone did you wrong I am like this: "No he did not!" "She what?! Aww hell noo! You need to let them know they are messing with the wrong one..."
Don't get me wrong, I like peace and I know we need to be peacemakers, but you know how real the struggle can be at times when people try us.

Nevertheless, the response of a mediator would sound a lot different. A mediator tries to see both sides to bring a new perspective. Instead of hyping the person up, getting them even more upset, mediators look for solutions, trying to build bridges and resolve the problem.

I don't want to be an instigator. I want people to be able to come to me when they are hurt or upset and serve as a mediator bringing people back together.

There are different types of instigators. There are the ones like me who out of love for one person takes sides and can't see both sides and there are others who simply enjoy friction between two people. They don't take anybody’s side but go back and forth between two people and twist the story to make matters worse. Let's not be any of those.

If I have found one thing about mediators it's that they are always people who God can trust. Who have found favour in His sight. Who are worthy in the eyes of God. Who are holy and acceptable. Let's try and be all these things so that God will be able to trust us with other people's lives knowing that we will handle issues and problems that are being brought to our attention with care and good intentions and be the mediators here on earth that Jesus Christ is for us in heaven.

God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
