I have noticed something about children. Children choose to believe what others speak into their life.
Tell a child: "you're a good girl" or "you're a very smart boy" and it will show in the way they behave because they accept and believe the words others speak into their life.
But what about us? In this day and age, in a world of social media and reality tv, everyone has something to say about somebody. People may see pictures of you online and automatically assume things about you.People may work with you 8 hours a day and have established firm opinions about you. Even strangers have something to say about you when you're just walking past them.
And the sad part is: that's how most of us start to see ourselves.
People say: " I am funny" or, "my friends thinks I would be perfect for this or horrible at that". We become the words people speak about us and their words start affecting us.
But as believers, we can't let the words of family, friends, co-workers or strangers move us like this. We need to let what God says about us move us. God in His word, speaks so many good things into our lives that we don't need approval (or disapproval) from anybody else. Even if nobody tells you you're beautiful know that God says you are.
But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people.
You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession...
...Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God's people...
-1.Peter 1:9-10
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvellous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
-Psalms 139:14
These are the words of our heavenly Father and I choose to believe them and receive them into my heart. I pray that God will release us from any discouraging and negative word anybody has spoken concerning us, that we have received and accepted and that He will replace them with the good words He speaks into our lives.
I am who God says I am!
AMEN.
