WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU'RE UNINSPIRED
Hey Y'all!! I know it's been a while and the reason for me being M.I.A is actually the title of this Blog Post. I am uninspired. Boom! There you have it. I know, I know, I know...the Slogan for this blog is "inspired to inspire" and when I got it from the Lord it was based on 2. Timothy 3:16-17 (and it still is). I like to inspire others and to be inspired. I think it's what makes life worth living. To draw inspiration from another person without comparing yourself or hating on them.
But lately, I have been uninspired. Everything just seemed to pass me by. I am the kind of person who is easily inspired. A good conversation inspires me. A good song inspires me. Even a good advert inspires me and most of all the Bible inspires me and that is how I get to write these Blog Posts. And I haven't been able to do that in the last couple of weeks ( or months...who's counting?)
A big revelation as to why I haven't been able to do what I love to do is the fact that to be inspired means nothing else but to be in the spirit.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work
2 Timothy 3:16
You see, the world likes to make it seem like inspiration is their thing but it's actually spiritual. In order to draw inspiration from around us and especially from God we need to be in the spirit. And let me be honest with you; I haven't been in the spirit at all lately. You can call it a writers blog, a drought or a low but God actually showed me that it is spiritual.
I could have easily written a pretty blog post in the past weeks because I have a passion for writing and I also believe that I am talented. but I would have done it out of my own strength. And that's not the point of working for the Lord, This is how many Christians miss it. Passion and talent are not sufficient for the Kingdom of God. Yes; God puts something in your heart and you develop a desire for it, but without the Spirit it's worthless. We don't get to do things out of our own strength when we live for God, because we could demand the Glory.
Some of you are in school, uni, at work or even in ministry and you feel tired, unmotivated, burnt out, just like me. You might not experience the same joy doing what you used to enjoy. What you are is uninspired and it makes us lack vision. And if we lack vision we don't understand why we are in certain places and seasons. And if we can't discern our season we are going to be ineffective. The only way we can change that is to get back into the spirit. So here's what we're going to do:Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.
Zechariah 4:6
1. Pray & Worship
I know that that's not a big surprise but hey...that's our only way to connect to the Holy Spirit. My prayer life has been really weak lately, and I am not proud of it, but that is the main issue as to why I am so uninspired. I am not talking about these ordinary prayers you know. Not the type where we just pray for the sake of praying. I mean pouring your heart out and allowing God to pour back into you. Allow Him to speak. Allow Him to draw you to Himself in worship. Because that is exactly where your inspiration is. At the feet of our Father and the Holy Spirit draws us to Him as we pray and worship.
2. Set your mind on things above
Another reason for a lack of inspiration could also be that our minds are cluttered. Between everyday life, tv, music and social media it's easy to lose focus. That's' why it's so important to ask the Holy Spirit to renew our minds daily. A good way to do that is to be intentional about what you consume. Don't just listen to any type of music, listen to worship. Don't just watch any show that's on, watch a sermon. You get the idea. You will feel more inspired because your spirit will be alert and sensitive to recognize what God wants to show you.
3. Get into the word
This one is a major key. The Bible isn't just any book, written by just anybody about just anything. It is the living word of God. It is actually breathing, alive and immortal. That's where your source of inspiration is. You can watch all the sermons in the world and read all the inspirational and motivational books you like. If it is not the pure word of God it will only take you so far. Get into His word. Read it, study it, meditate on it and watch everything change.
When I talk about being in the Spirit I am talking about none other than the Spirit of God. There are many Spirits but only the Spirit of God is pure, it is not a spirit that brings confusion it is gentle. Gods Spirit is life and truth. That's the spirit we want to dig into.
So here it is. What to do when you're uninspired. Let me go follow my own advice and actually practice what I preach. Lol. Until next time beautiful people. I believe you are called to be an inspiration to this generation and you will not miss your target in Jesus Name.
Yours, Ashley. xxx
