DAILY BREAD

A conscious decision. Not only spoken but lived, daily. A conscious prayer, not only prayed once, but prayed daily. A constant battle, not only fought once, but fought daily. A fight not only fought in the ring nor on the streets. A fight I learn I can only conquer on my knees. Not once, daily.

Do you know what I love about this statement by my fellow blogger sister (btw. click here to check out her blog, it's AMAZING!!!)? It reminds me of God's concept of providing for us daily. There is no person on this earth that you can rely on like you can rely on God. Your friends, your spouse, your parents may do something for you once, twice or maybe all your life and then just stop doing that thing and they have every right to do so. But God is so consistent about what He does that we can count on Him daily. (Look at God, won't He do it?)

As Christians, who have been in the game for quite a while, it is easy to somehow feel like we have arrived. Someone like me, who was raised in Church for example...I know all the right scriptures, I know all the words to the songs, I know how to pray, how to fast. We become graduates in "playing" Church and call it spiritual maturity when it is self-righteousness.

We all need to ask God, every single day, every single moment for Grace. Yesterday's prayer was good, yesterday's anointing was enough for yesterday but it will not take you to the places God has in mind for you. God wants us to rely on Him daily.

It's a new day, we can't settle for rotten manna from yesterday when God wants to do something new.

Give us today our daily bread.
Matthew 6:11

When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He told them to ask God to give them their daily bread. But what is it all about that daily bread? Why can't we just ask God to give us bread for the rest of our lives once and He just does it?  When I was asked to bless the food as a child, I would always pray that He should bless this food in front of us as well as anything we would ever eat again in our lives. (I am saved now...don't worry) As a Child, I never understood the need to pray a prayer over and over again. But God wants us to be aware of His blessings and  depend on them daily.

And here I am again talking about the Israelites (yes, I am going there, sorry not sorry). There is yet to be a post written by me; that will not mention the Israelites (Lol.)
Number one: Because I am just obsessed with their story and Number two: they just seem to be the spitting image of our generation today ( they were pretty annoying though if you ask me; but that will probably be another post ;-))

You know the story...you know God. He was showing out as always, doing the most for His chosen people. Delivering them out of the hands of the Egyptians with great power. It was going down, let me just say that. And still, the Israelites were moaning...as they always were.

Here, too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron. “If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned. “There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.”
Exodus 16:2-3

Ugh! So annoying; I know. So here is what God did to see whether His people would trust Him enough to provide all that they need to get them to the promised land.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will cause bread to rain from heaven for you; the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, so that I may test them [to determine] whether or not they will walk [obediently] in My instruction (law)
Exodus 16:4(AMP)

Do you see what God did right here? He instructed them to gather a days portion of Manna. Not a weeks portion or a years supply but a days portion. Meaning after that day was over they would have to trust that the Lord would come through for them the same way He did before.
Do you have a testimony of the goodness of God? This moment when you just know this had to be God working for you? Did He come through before? Did He ever make a way for you where there seemed to be no way? Did He remove any mountains for your sake?
I know He did and I know He will do it again! He is the same yesterday, today and forever! The same God who made a way in the wilderness and delivered, healed and saved you before will surely do it again! If only you will let go of the rotten Manna.

Then Moses told them, “Do not keep any of it until morning.” 20 But some of them didn’t listen and kept some of it until morning. But by then it was full of maggots and had a terrible smell. Moses was very angry with them.
Exodus 16:19-20

God instructed them not to hoard the Manna from the days before but they didn't listen. There is something new God wants to do in you, through you and for you if you would only rely on Him daily as your only source to take you all the places He wants to take you. Yesterday's encounter, yesterdays wonder, yesterdays grace won't do it anymore. We need Him daily. As this year is coming to an end I believe that there are some rotten things we need o let go off. Let's not carry the rotten Manna into 2018 but let us ask God to renew us daily, to give us fresh anointing, fresh wisdom, fresh grace, fresh ideas on a daily basis. Not relying on our own efforts but gratefully remembering what He did yesterday knowing that He is able to do it tomorrow, the day after that and forevermore.

I need thee, o I need thee...every hour I need thee...

So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Matthew 6:34
