"Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world." - Psalms 46:10 NLT
What I found to be true about God is this:
Every move of God requires a sound!
If we want something to happen
we first need to make a sound.
Be it a sound of prayer or a sound of worship or praise.
It's just like it is written in Matthew 7:7
"Ask it shall be given to you...knock and the door will
be opened to you." (NIV).
And this is not so because God
doesn't know what we need unless we say it.
He knows just what we need
before we even say a word
but it is our sound that gets heavens attention.
But then I realized something in a quiet moment. I realized that it goes both ways. Sometimes it is in a quiet moment when the lights go off and it's just you and nobody else that God will speak the loudest. Yes, He delights in our worship and in our praise, when we cry out to Him. But there is also that other side. Silence!
We live in such a loud world. I mean, how hard is it, for people to shut up. Everybody has an opinion, everybody has something to say- or at least that's what they think. Everybody and everything is just so noisy. Distractions are everywhere. But I believe that God is not a God who will talk over our everyday lives and over our issues and concerns. God talks to them. And we might not even hear Him, because of all the noise around us. That's why we need to press the mute button on all of these distractions at times, to be able to hear the voice of God. Let's be real: nothing anybody on this earth is going to tell us; be it through social media or a wordly song, is going to be as important as what our heavenly father has to tell us.
That's what I love about quiet time. The fact that we deliberately take time out of our loud lives and silence everything around us to spend time with God and hear from Him.
When Elijah was going through a tough time, he was looking for God. And God placed Elijah on a mountain.
And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the ocks were torn loos, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was a sound of a gentle whisper.1. Kings 19:11-12 (NLT)
So when God is not in our whirlwinds and not in our earthquakes or fires. He may be in that whisper. In order to hear the whisper, we need to be quiet. I pray that God places in us the desire to make a joyful noise unto Him as well as that He will release into us a quiet spirit and the spirit of discernment that know when God want's to whisper to us. AMEN
Wow thanks for sharing. I love how we expect something very big, at least a very loud voice because it's GOD. But sometimes we do have to turn off the noise around us to hear him whisper. Great Post✨
